Melody Morris, Lead Computational Biologist, Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research
Dr. Melody K. Morris received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and her Ph.D. in Biological Engineering from MIT. Her graduate thesis work in the laboratory of Prof. Douglas Lauffenburger focused on building predictive logic models of biological signaling networks. Melody’s work applying bioinformatics approaches and molecular profiling datasets to questions of drug discovery began as a scientist at Merck & Co. and continued at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research where her expertise expanded to include application of network algorithms for interpretation of functional genomics screens and the use of population genetics to impact drug discovery. Melody is currently a Senior Investigator in the Respiratory Diseases department at NIBR. With 7+ years of experience in industry as a computational biologist, she is passionate about furthering our understanding of how big datasets and advanced analytics can be applied for real impact on drug discovery and development.
